I met with Shauna and Dave in 2016 for a free consultation to discuss their upcoming Ashfield House Wedding. After a long chat and after seeing more of my portfolio, they hired me to be their photographer. The package they chose included a very rare pre engagement shoot (rare for me as I shoot around 40 weddings a year right now so its usually quite difficult to squeeze the engagement shoots in! If you are reading this though as a potential client and you would really like an engagement shoot in your package, Wednesday are always good for me so please ask!) After a little discussion we decided that we would do the engagement shoot at the beautiful Formby Beach. We couldnt have asked for nicer weather with blue skies throughout the shoot. This was an ideal time for Shauna and Dave to get comfortable in front of the camera and also to discuss the final details for their upcoming special day. The weeks literally flew passed and the wedding day arrived. I arrived early on the day (you can never be sure with the Wigan traffic!) and started the bridal prep photos at 9am. The bridal suite at Ashfield House was very light and large allowing me to move around and capture lots of beautiful natural light photos. I captured the usual dress, shoes, flowers etc shots along with the hair and makeup photos and then headed across the hallway to photograph some shots that Shauna had requested. The wedding was a superhero themed wedding as you will see from the superhero socks and cufflinks!
Once this was all done I had some time to photograph the ceremony room as well as chat with the registrars and capture photos of the guests arriving. Once the bride and bridesmaids were all dressed I headed back up to the Ashfield House wedding suite to capture some final getting ready photos, before Shauna headed downstairs arm in arm with her Father. Well you will be pleased to know I have finished waffling (for now!) please feel free to browse through the photographs below and if you are planning an Ashfield House Hotel Wedding or a Wigan wedding, please get in touch to check I specifically chose wedding photography as a career because I love the sheer range of emotions available for capturing – from nervousness and anticipation, to excitement, pride and finally bliss. Natural wedding photography is the best, and I love the image of the newlyweds emerging into a cloud of confetti. Unfortunately the rain put a stop to any more outdoor shots! Continuing the playful tone of the day, at the wedding breakfast guests participated in a game of Mr & Mrs.
Whilst friends and family of the bride and groom got acquainted, the newlyweds slipped away so I could take some photos. Weddings are so hectic that this is often the only opportunity couples have to grab a few moments of peace to digest the day’s events. A hazard of Wigan wedding photography can be the weather, I am happy to photograph in the rain, you can can get some spectacular shots but not when there is a full on monsoon! So we were forced to stay indoors, though luckily Ashfield House had plenty of photogenic nooks and crannies. I have seen many Wigan wedding venues throughout my career, but Ashfield House is certainly one of the grandest I’ve shot. Well, you will be pleased to know I have finished waffling (for now!). Please feel free to browse through the photographs below and if you are planning an Ashfield House wedding or getting married at a different Wigan wedding venue and would like a highly experienced, relaxed wedding photographer, please get in touch to check my availability. And finally, thank you to Shauna & Dave for choosing me for their Wigan wedding photography. I hope this next chapter of your lives will be a very happy one.
