The Styal Lodge wedding venue is set in the village of Styal Cheshire. The lodge was custom built with you in mind. The large open plan interior allows for you and your wedding guests to enjoy the day and has a really unique atmosphere that other venues just can't match. There is a huge custom built bridal room with enough space for you and your bridesmaids (and photographer!) to enjoy. You can also use it as a chill out area for in the evening or for a quiet area for any tired children!
I first photographed a wedding at Styal Lodge in January 2017 and have since booked several more weddings there for 2018. I met with Cheryl and Matthew over a coffee to discuss their wedding plans and what their requirements were for the day. I always recommend meeting your wedding photographer before hiring them just to make sure you get along and are on the same page. Once I had been hired I set about my usual task of researching the venue and having a look around for photo opportunities and where I was going to do the group photos etc. This is a very important thing to do if you have not photographed that particular wedding venue before. Not only does it give the bride and groom the very best settings for their pictures, it also saves time on the day. The wedding day came around very quickly, it was a typical grey and very cold day which I have been getting used to since moving to Cheshire! I arrived early, allowing myself enough time to chat to the lovely staff and to have another look around. I photographed the usual outside shots and details before meeting with the bride and bridesmaids. The bridal room, wow, easily one of the best prep rooms I have seen this year. It's very light and airy and lets a photographer move around and get the pictures without getting in the way. I very much like to stay in the background and capture the natural moments as they happen. Makeup artists are usually very surprised when I allow them to just go about their jobs without being directed by the wedding photographer! The natural in the moment photos are always the best. They are the ones you look back on and show your grandchildren later on in life.
Prep done and a few drinks later, the bride had a few requests for photos, so I made sure to get those and then headed off to meet the Groom. Matthew arrived with his family and best men and I took the opportunity to photograph them arriving and greeting each other. We then all headed into the ceremony room of Styal Lodge for the wedding to start. Cheryl walked down the aisle with her father while her very happy Groom looked on. The ceremony was beautiful, the decoration and background fairy lights really helped to lift the wedding photos and give something unique to them. After capturing the usual exchange of rings, the kiss , the guestbook signing, we headed outside. We were greeted with the Styal Lodge golf buggy and chauffeured over to the lake for some bride and groom photos. The lake was very frozen and the wind was icy cold so we didn't have the amount of time I would usually like, but we made do with the situation and got some nice photographs for the couple. Next was the wedding breakfast, wow the food was amazing, again some of the best food I have had at any wedding. This was followed up with the speeches and then the day literally just flew by. The wedding reception started at 7pm and Cheryl and Matthew did a very good job of filling the venue! That is about all I have to say, but if you are thinking of getting married, I highly recommend this Cheshire venue.
